The song's pride in rising above doubters is understandable, but Scripture consistently warns that pride which finds its rest in its own achievement rather than in God sets up a fragile foundation.

Qohelet looked back on wealth and accomplishment and called it vapor. The song's honest line 'worked so hard, forgot how to vacation' quietly admits the same exhaustion, but the song never follows that thread anywhere.

Jesus warned that life does not consist in the abundance of possessions. The song measures arrival almost entirely in material terms, which sits in direct tension with this.
At its heart this is a song about being told you'd amount to nothing and then proving the doubters wrong, and that moment of calling your mom when she sees you on TV carries real weight. But the song never asks what the success is for. The answer it offers is Bentleys, money, and women who didn't know you last year. The longing underneath is genuine; what it reaches toward is thin. There is nothing here that actively dishonors God, but nothing that points anywhere beyond the self either.
Multiple profanities, objectifying references to women, drug-adjacent imagery ("itching like an addict"), and a racial slur used in-group by Quavo. Not gratuitous, but consistently coarse.
The song's emotional core is genuine: a kid who was doubted proving people wrong and calling his mom. That human longing for validation is real. But the resolution lands entirely in wealth, status, and external approval with no deeper anchor.
This reads as honest celebration of a come-up, not an attempt to corrupt. The pride is understandable given Post Malone's actual story. Quavo's verse tips toward braggadocio and objectification, pulling the intent slightly darker.
