The short version: we designed WWJLT so we don’t have to know who you are.

Last updated July 26, 2026

No accounts. No ads. No analytics trackers. No selling or sharing of personal data — there’s no profile of you to sell. Your reading history stays on your device, and the microphone recording never leaves your phone.

What we receive when you weigh a song

When you ask for a reading, our server receives the song’s title and artist. To produce the reading, we send the song’s title, artist, and publicly available lyrics to our AI provider — nothing about you is attached. The finished reading is saved in the shared library so the next person who asks about that song gets an instant answer. Library entries are about songs, not about the people who asked.

The microphone

The mic is used only while you’re actively listening for a song, and recognition runs through Apple’s ShazamKit: your phone converts the audio into an acoustic fingerprint on the device and matches it against Apple’s catalog. The audio recording itself is never uploaded to WWJLT and never stored. Apple’s handling of ShazamKit matching is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

Your history stays on your phone

The app’s History tab is a local record kept on your device. It is never uploaded, we cannot see it, and deleting an entry (or the app) removes it for good. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

How we keep the service fair without identifying you

Feedback you send

If you report a wrong lyric or an off-target reading, we store the song, the category, and the message you wrote so we can fix it. Please don’t include personal information in the message — it isn’t needed. If you email us instead, we use your email only to reply.

Service providers

A few providers help run WWJLT, each receiving only what their job requires: Cloudflare delivers the website and shields it from attacks (it processes IP addresses to do so), our AI provider generates readings from song lyrics, and our database of readings is backed up in encrypted form. None of them receive a profile of you, because we don’t have one.

Children

WWJLT is made for families, but it isn’t directed at young children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone — children included. That’s the point of the design.

Changes

If we ever add a feature that changes what we handle — optional accounts for history backup, for example — we’ll update this page first and note the date at the top. We will never quietly start collecting more than a feature honestly needs.
