The song's entire theological spine rests here. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever is not just quoted but dramatized across every verse.
“I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.”
The psalmist recalls God's past wonders to steady faith under present pressure. The song follows exactly this pattern, rehearsing the exodus and the miracles to sustain current trust.

Great is Your faithfulness grounds the chorus. Standing on Your faithfulness is the same confession: God's mercies are not used up, and His character is the only footing worth taking.
Same God takes the listener on a walk through Scripture's memory: Jacob, Moses, Mary, David, the lepers, the captives. It is not nostalgia. The whole point is that the same faithfulness active in those stories is available right now. The final section turns into an open invitation to the Holy Spirit, shifting from declaration to hunger. The song asks the listener to bring their own giants and lay them against the record of what God has already done.
Entirely clean. The lyrics are saturated with biblical names, covenant language, and direct address to God. No concerning content whatsoever.
Every line points outward and upward. The song anchors personal need in the faithfulness God has already proven across Scripture, then presses that history into the present as living expectation. Dependence on God is the whole posture.
This is congregational worship designed to build corporate faith. The theological move, rehearsing what God did then to fuel confidence in what God will do now, is intentional and well-executed.
